How Many Units of Botox Do I Need?

Spoiler: It Depends (and That’s a Good Thing)

Let’s talk Botox - because one of the most common questions we get at Polished is: “How many units do I actually need?”

And the answer? It’s not one-size-fits-all.

Just like skincare, hair color, or your favorite coffee order, Botox treatments should be customized to you. Here’s why.

What Impacts How Many Units You’ll Need?

There are a few key factors that go into determining how many units of Botox you’ll need to achieve smooth, natural-looking results. We take all of this into consideration when creating your customized treatment plan:

The area being treated – Forehead vs. masseters vs. lip flip? Each requires a different approach.

Your muscle strength – Stronger muscles usually need more units to relax properly.

How much movement you have – More dynamic expressions = potentially more units.

Your eye and eyelid position – Placement matters, especially for keeping results balanced and beautiful.

Your goals + preferences – Want a frozen, super-smooth look? Or just a subtle softening? We tailor it to your vision.

Your injector’s technique – Every provider has a slightly different style, and at Polished, we’re known for precision and artistry.

So… What’s the Range?

While every treatment is unique, here’s a general guide to the unit ranges we typically recommend:

• Forehead: 10–30 units

• Glabella (frown lines): 10–25 units

• Crow’s feet: 6–15 units per side

• Bunny lines: 2–10 units per side

• Masseters (TMJ relief + facial slimming): 10–24 units per side

• Lip flip: 8–12 units

• Gummy smile: 2–6 units per side

• Smile lift (DAO): 2–6 units per side

• Chin dimpling: 2–6 units

• Neck bands: 25–50 units

Why We Charge Per Area (Not Per Unit)

At Polished, we charge per area because we fully customize your treatment plan based on your anatomy, expression patterns, and personal preferences. Charging per area allows us to focus on results - not counting units. We’re here to deliver beautiful, balanced outcomes that are tailored to you - not a generic Botox map.
